Value Added Services - Just-in-Time/Kanban

Just-in-time (JIT) is an inventory process that improves a business by

reducing in-process inventory and its carrying costs. To implement and

maintain just-in-time the business must have signals of what is going on

within the manufacturing process. This means that the process is often

driven by a series of signals, that tell production processes when to

make the next part.  Kanban, which is implemented as a process signal,

can be job tracking sheets or something as simple visual signals, suc

as the presence or absence of a part on a shelf or in a bin. When

implemented correctly, JIT can lead to dramatic improvements in

the organization's return on investment, quality, and efficiency. Rapid

communication of the consumption of old stock which triggers new

stock to be ordered is key to JIT and inventory reduction. This saves

warehouse space and costs.

At AVA Electronics we have over 10 years experience with the Toyota Production System (TPS), and have implemented many modules of lean manufacturing for various companies including JIT and Kanban.  AVA Electronics can review your historical stock levels which were determined by historical demand and implement a just-in-time delivery system to keep your inventory levels low, reduce carrying costs and keep production flowing smoothly.
